    January 22nd-Winter Party

Teacher Comments;

    The white Federal Survey Cards need to be filled out and sent back ASAP. This is not optional. Every student needs to turn one in. That means if I do not get it back, I send another one home. If that does not get sent back, I call and send another one home. If that does not work I call again and again until it comes back. So, please send it back.

    A new skill book was sent home. Please recommit yourself with working with your child on 4 skills a week, ABC fluency and sight word fluency. Remember to read 100 minutes a week.

    Your child will be doing a report on an animal. I will send home all the info on Monday to help your child with the report. Please look for it on Monday.

    It feels good to be back. This is always an exciting time in Kindergarten because of the growth that takes place. Things start clicking for them and their ability to learn to read increases!

    If you would like to help with the Winter Party please let me know ASAP!

Thanks for all you do!

Mrs. Winter

    Our field trip is Monday, December 21st, at the Ogden Nature Center. We will be indoors and outdoors during this time, so please dress your child appropriately. If you volunteered to come help chaperone a group please leave small children at home. Because of the space available on the bus you may be asked to drive. I have had an overwhelming amount of parent volunteers so you may be asked to pay your admission into the Nature Center. I will let you know what the Nature Center charges us. Please look over the list and let me know if I have it correct. If you are not able to attend please let me know ASAP via email and I will make adjustments.

Teacher Comments;

    We are finishing up Skill book #3. I will not be sending another skill book home until after the break. Please track reading for this week. If you feel like during the holiday break that you need to work with your child-use the flashcards and sight words to keep them fresh. My goal is to have ALL kindergarteners knowing their letters and sounds by January. Also this may be a great time to go get a library card from the Weber County Library. They are such a good resource for you and it is free!

    Friday will be our Polar Express Day! Send your child in appropriate PJ’s! You may also send a blanket and pillow.

    We are going to be making bell necklaces! The kids will be earning beads during the week for good behavior. Look for the final product on Friday.

            December 22nd -ALL KINDERGARTEN COMES AT 8:30-10:30

Teacher Comments;
     From now on I will send home a weekly newsletter via email, blog or paper.
      Our field trip is Monday, December 21st, at the Ogden Nature Center. We will be indoors and outdoors during this time, so please dress your child appropriately. If you would like to come help chaperone a group please indicate below. Please leave small children at home. Because of the space available on the bus you may be asked to drive.
     On December 22nd our school will be having a school wide sing-a-long. Because of the time the school sing-a-long is we are having ALL KINDERGARTEN come from 8:30-10:30. Mrs. Possie’s classes will also come at this time, but because of Mrs. Silverwood teaching an a.m. class at Hooper, her class will come at normal time. If your child is a bus student, the bus will not take your child home from school. They can still catch the bus in the morning. If this is a problem please contact me and I can give you some names of parents that could help with carpooling for that day.
     As much as I LOVE receiving gifts, I also LOVE getting things that benefit our kids in class. If you feel you must give a gift to me please consider something for the class. The following are some ideas-markers, puzzles, books, mini-stickers, do-a-dots, age appropriate games etc. I also LOVE getting a note that is made by my most favorite kids! This is no solicitation for gifts but just (hopefully not tacky!) an idea.
    If you would be willing to donate a box of candy canes send them ASAP!

Pumpkin Day!
27 October 2009, kwinter @ 4:28 pm

On Pumpkin Day each child brought a pumpkin.

Some of the activities we did were:

  • Painted a jack-o-lantern with water colors .
  • Learned how a pumpkin grows from a seed to a pumpkin.
  • Made a puppet and learned a pumpkin song.
  • Recited “5 Little Pumpkins”.
  • We put our pumpkins in order from largest to smallest.
  • We measure how big each pumpkin was and decided which one was the fattest and skinniest.
  • We sorted our pumpkins by size, color and if they were bumby or smooth!

Here is a cute poem recited by the p.m. class.

Just some pictures of the different activities we did on this great day.

Here is a cute song by the a.m. class.

Take a poll so we can find out how you got your pumpkin!
