So, you’ve seen a great video on YouTube (www.youtube.com) and thought it would be a great clip to show your class.
*Or let’s face it, you want to email it to everybody, but YouTube is blocked here at school.
Most of you have heard about WeberTube by now - www.webertube.com. This is WSD’s own media website containing videos that are uploaded by WSD employees everyday. And yes, it is available here at school.
So your solution will be: Download that great video from YouTube, and upload it to WeberTube so it’s available to view here at school. Then, when it’s on WeberTube, embed it on your blog, as I’ve done below.
This video will walk you through the process.
Here is the vdownloader download link: http://www.vdownloader.es/files/vdownloader.zip
For instructions on embedding WeberTube media to your blog, see my entry here:

Thanks Justin! For those who don’t want to download some extra software, you can just use either of the following sites, enter in the YouTube URL, and upload it from home.
http://www.keepvid.com
http://www.clipnabber.com
ClipNabber is especially cool, since it works with http://www.teachertube.com as well. If you’re given a choice when you go to download a video from YouTube, I recommend downloading the MP4 version, since it’s higher quality and the FLV version won’t create thumbnails when it’s uploaded. Haven’t quite figured out why not yet.

Thanks Justin R. Concerning the downloading format; How good is AVI vs MP4? I know that AVI will be a bigger filesize, but is MP4 pretty close in quality?
EDIT: oops, now I know what you mean. There are only two format options to download. Thanks.
